“The emotions come from the heart to the hands and project them in to the piano’s keyboard”.
That’s the way that describes the Spanish pianist Domingo J. Sanchez his way of playing the piano. And this artist thrills audiences with just bring his hands to the keyboard. A channel between his heart and the people’s heart who hear it is formed.
Born in Cartagena, Murcia (Spain).
He was teached in Classical Music, Domingo J. Sanchez has entered in multiple styles of music throughout his piano career.
He started playing at the age of 3, although he was 8 when he began his formal studies at the conservatory of music.
At the age of 9 he already composed and performed his own works. It was as a teenager when he decided to try with other kind of music of modern trends such as: Rock, Blues, Pop, Soul and Jazz, but without abandoning the classical discipline, gaining a more sophisticated pianistic language.
At the age of 18, he specialized himself mostly in jazz music, playing at festivals in his region. It was when he went to Madrid when he got his most success. First, he recorded and produced three albums with the singer and filmmaker Javier Elorrieta: “Ne me quitte pas”, “La Boheme” and “Temps d’aimer”. Later he will be part of the National Jazz Orchestra of Spain (ONJAZZ) recording a memorable double CD called “Jaleos”, accompanying artists like Paquito D’Rivera, Jorge Pardo, or Randy Brecker.
After that he was part during five years of one of the most live longer jazz’s and blues band in Spain: Larry Martin Band, recording the CD “Everything must change” and part of the compilation “Larry Martin Band: 25 years”. Unfortunately Larry Martin, drummer and leader of the group, died. The band is currently still playing under the name of “Speak Jazzy” whom Domingo J. Sanchez also took part.
He currently leads the Arlequin Jazz Project group where the pianist develops an eclectic style based on jazz, but with influences of folk, rock, and classical music. Arlequin Jazz Project has a work called “Spanish storm”.
